About the College
Muthayammal College of Arts & Science was founded by the Muthayammal Educational Trust in the year 1994, with the aim of bringing a new dimension to the study of arts & science. The college currently offers fifteen Under Graduate Programmes and fifteen Post Graduate Programmes in both fundamental and advanced courses. Research facilities leading to M.Phil., and Ph.D., are available in Biotechnology and Biochemistry departments. State-of-the-art infrastructural facilities combined with able and experienced faculty make it possible to impart the latest technological advancements in biological sciences.
The college is situated in a calm rural area with serene environment. However, it attracts students from far away urban towns and cities like lucknow, Nagpur, Nellore, Visakhpatnam, Hyderabad, Calicut, Trivandrum and Port Blair etc..
The college endeavours to provide all the students best education coupled with discipline. In order to mould the students into ideal and talented individuals competent to meet the harsh challenges of the most competitive present world, many extra curricular programmes are carried out.
To expose the student community to the developments and also to provide an opprtunity to have interaction with eminent personalities in different spheres, periodical seminars /symposia / workshops are conducted.

About the Department
The Centre for Biotechnology of Muthayammal College of Arts & Science was established in July, 1999 nearby Rasipuram town, which is located in Namakkal District, one of the educationally backward districts in Tamilnadu to motivate biotechnology research in this area. Today, with enormous facilities and exceptional faculty members this center is being one of the topmost biotechnology education centres in Tamilnadu.
