Funeral
services for Mrs. Elizabeth [Lizzie] McKee Hill, 80, of Gray Court, who died
Saturday, were conducted Monday at the Second Baptist Church, Laurens by Rev.
Grange S. Cothran, Rev. B. F. Franklin and Rev. Alvin Boone. Burial was in Rose
Hill Cemetery, Wattsville.
Native of Laurens County, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Puckett
McKee, she lived with a son, Allen Hill near Gray Court for seven years. She was
a member of the Second Baptist Church of Laurens.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joe C. Hughes of Rt. 1., Laurens; four
sons, Allen, Raymond, and Edwin Hill of Rt. 2, Gray Court, and Willie B. Hill of
Rt. 1, Laurens; a brother, Jodie McKee of Rt.1, Laurens; two sisters, Mrs.
Minnie Patton of Greenville and Mrs. Andrella Thomas of Danville, Va.; seven
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Advertiser--February 8, 1934-----Funeral Services for Nathan Hill
Watts Mill, Feb. 6---Funeral services for Nathan H. Hill, 49,
near Gray Court, who was killed early last Monday morning when the car in
which he was riding with Eldridge Kennedy, who was also killed, and John Poole
who was injured, plunged into an 8 foot gully on the Gray Court-Ora Highway,
near Martin's Cross Roads were held from the Lucas Avenue Baptist Church at 4
o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The
services were conducted by the Reverend O. A. Jeffcoat of Gray Court, and the
Reverend Guy Martin of Watts Mills. Interment was made in the family plot in the
Watts Mills Cemetery.
Mr. Hill was for years a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
He was a devoted husband and father and he leaves a wide circle of
friends to mourn his death. The
many beautiful floral offerings bore evidence of the esteem in which he was
held.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lizzie McKee Hill, five sons, Archie Hill
or Pelzer, Allen, Willie B., Edwards, and Raymond Hill of Gray Court; one
daughter, Mrs. Joe C. Hughes of Watts Mills; six sisters, Mrs. William Penland
of Greenville; Mrs. Cora Barksdale of Sumter, Mrs. Lula Stroud, Mrs. Dora
O'Shields, Mrs. Essie Sims of Spartanburg and Mrs. E. N. Tinsley of Clinton;
three brothers, Lan Hill of Gray Court and Sam and Dock Hill of Spartanburg.

Archie Landrum Hill, 50, of
Wattsville died early Monday morning at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood
following an illness of two years.
Mr. Hill was a son of Mrs. Lizzie
McKee Hill and the late Nathan Hill. He
was a textile worker and was a member of Lucas Ave. Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his mother are
his wife, Mrs. Ida Dee Hill, one son, Archie L. Hill, Jr.; one daughter, Mrs.
Virginia Sexton of Greenwood; four brothers, Allen and Raymond Hill of Gray
Court and Willie B. and Edwin Hill of Laurens; one sister, Mrs. Joe C. Hughes of
Laurens and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted
Tuesday afternoon at Lucas Avenue Baptist Church by the Rev. W. W. McNeil, the
Rev. Hoyt Alexander and the Rev. Grange S. Cothran.
Burial was in Warrior Creek cemetery.

Mrs. Ida D. Garrett Hill of 2
Simmons St., widow of Archie Landrum Hill Sr., died Monday.
Born in Laurens County, daughter
of the late Drayton and Olive Culbertson Garrett, she was a member of Lucas
Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Archie L.
Hill, Jr of Laurens; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Sexton of Anderson; three brothers,
Carl Garrett, Ezel Garrett and Clarence Garrett of Laurens; a sister, Miss
Harlow Garrett of Laurens and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday
at 11 am at the Lucas Avenue Baptist Church, with burial at Warrior Creek
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lillie Mae Hill Hughes, 84, of
Route 5, Smith Road, Laurens, widow of Joe C. Hughes, died Friday in Laurens
County Hospital. A native of
Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Lizzie McKee Hill.
She was retired from the J. P. Stevens Company, Watts Plant, a member of
the Laurens Second Baptist church, the Golden Circle Sunday School Class, the
Order of the Amaranth and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs.
James [Elizabeth] bright of Laurens; two brothers, Edwin Hill of Gray Court, and
Willie B. Hill of Asheville, NC; and a granddaughter , Cindy Bright of Irmo, SC.
Services were conducted Sunday at
the Second Baptist Church with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to the
Laurens Second Baptist Church, Fleming Street, Laurens 29360--The Kennedy

Joseph Chestley Hughes, 64, of
Route One, Laurens, died in Laurens District Hospital, Tuesday night.
He was a native of Laurens
County, son of the late Fred and Ethel Owens Hughes.
He was a retired textile employee, a member and past deacon of the Second
Baptist Church. He was also a
member of Rossie Walker Masonic Lodge No. 354.
Surviving are his wife; Mrs.
Lillie Mae Hill Hughes; one daughter, Mrs. James [Elizabeth] Bright of Laurens;
one brother, Lewis Hughes of Wilmington, NC; one sister; Mrs. Jessie Edwards of
Spartanburg and one grandchild.

Church and Schrader Masonic Lodge.

Cove Road, died Wednesday February 26, 2003 in an Asheville Health Care Center
following a period of declining health.
A
native of Laurens County, SC. He had resided in Buncombe County since 1970. Mr.
Hill was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Leicester and a W.W.II Army
Veteran.
He
was a son of the late Nathaniel and Lizzie McKee Hill and was the husband of the
late Mary Agnes Hill and the late Lena Clark Hill.
Surviving
are his step-daughters, Wanda Haynes and Elaine Couch both of Leicester, Jean
McCoy of Candler and Kay Rogers of Asheville; step-son, W.B. Clark of Leicester;
step daughter in law, Mary Nell Clark and brother, Edwin Hill of Gray Court, SC.
Graveside
service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC
with the Rev. John T. Lee officiating.

Mrs. Mary Agnes Patton Hill, 47 of Wichita, Kan. Formerly of Greenville,
died at her home Tuesday after a sudden heart attack. She was the wife of W. B.
Hill. Born in Laurens, March 5, 1918 she was a daughter of Mrs. Minnie Lee McKee
Patton and the late Robert Lee Patton. Most of her life was spent in Greenville.
She lived in the Monaghan community 17 years and moved to Wichita four years
ago. she was a practical nurse. (Survivors)
The body is at the Thomas McAffe Funeral Home this afternoon. The family is at
the home of a sister, Mrs. Ausburn, 8 Aiken Circle, Berea.

A native of Mitchell County, Mrs. Hill resided in Buncombe County since 1942. She was formerly employed with Kellwood and was a memberof Zion Hill Baptist Church, where was a member of the adult Bible class. She was the daughter of the late Moses P. and Cleo Patra Adkins Laws. Also preceding her in death was her first husband, David Clark, and her son, Wayne Clark.
She
is survived by her husband, Willie "Bill" Hill of the home; daughters,
Wanda Hayes and Elaine Couch, both of Leicester, Jean McCoy of Candler and Kay
Rogers of Asheville; son, W.B. Clark of Leicester; daughter-in-law, Mary Nell
Clark of Candler ;half-brothers, Robert Laws and Mose Laws, both of Hickory, and
Milton Laws of Bakersville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The
funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice
Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Scroggs officiating. Burial will be in Zion
Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
The
family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at
other times the family will be at the residence.
