Minutes of Meeting 8 September 2009

The regular meeting of the Marine Corps League, McLemore Detachment #324, was called to order by Commandant Charles Ynman. 16 members, 1 associate member, and 4 guests were present. New members were listed (Jason Holmes, Alfred Fraser, Joe Silverstein, and Jimmy Gonzales) and new members present were sworn in.

Officer Reports:

Sr. Vice - John Roskosky - M-1 Garand shoot in November -details upcoming.

Jr. Vice - Bob Hiles - working on membership roster.

Adjutant - Mike Mahady - Jose made motion to approve minutes made, Bob Hiles seconded, all in favor, minutes approved.

Paymaster - Ken Knobelock - reported balances and ticket sales for Birthday Ball.

Judge Advocate - Al Kotrla - Semper Fi magazine has details from National.

Chaplain - Frank Cisneroz - absent. Sister is having surgery - please pray for them.

Color Guard - Scott Moseley - discussion of 5th Mar Div color guard.

Webmaster - Dave Tucker - send before and after photos if you have not done so.

Jimmy Gonzales - discussed USS Texas preservation project for Marine quarters - scheduled for Sept. 16th and 17th.

Old Business:

" 5th Marine Division Reunion - 21 - 26 Sept @ Hobby Hilton - brief discussion of Ivan's request at July meeting " Dept of Texas Fall Staff Meeting - 22 to 25 October at Hilton Garden Inn, 1749 Scott Boulevard, Temple, TX. 0900 color presentation (color guard be there at 0800). Evening banquet - 1730 to 1800 cocktails, presentation of colors at 1830. Banquet begins at 1900. " 8th Marine District Trophy Retirement - need to put together dates. " Marathon Oil Veteran's Day Presentation - 11 November @ 0900 - looking for a speaker for this - email Scott if you have any ideas. " Veteran's Day Parade - 11 November Downtown Houston. " Marine Corps Coordinating Council Birthday Ball - 7 November @ Sam Houston Race Park. McLemore has reserved 40 spaces - please pay Ken if you wish to sit with the League - cost is $50/ticket with buffet, $25/ticket without. " Christmas Party w/ 3rd Mar Div - Ninfa's on 45 - set for 3rd Saturday in December - need a guest speaker - bring a toy for Toys for Tots. " Marine Rose Program - discussion of how many we have left and who has them (Roberto DeLeon?). " Fallen Marine Program - still trying to get this back and running.
