Basic information  (Frequently asked questions)

Tanzania: Formerly known as Tanganyika until the political and economic union of mainland Tanganyika joined with the Islands Zanzibar and Pemba. 
No other country in East Africa offers such a huge variety of landscape, history and wildlife. National Parks, Game Reserves, Game Controlled Areas and Wildlife Management Areas make up almost a quarter of Tanzania, set-a-side for wildlife!


Hunting Season
: The hunting season runs from July 1st to December 31st.
 
Language
: The official language of Tanzania is Swahili, some officials and natives speak English. 

Weapons / Equipment Suggestions: You may import three rifles and one shotgun into Tanzania. Recommended cal. for dangerous game are 375 H&H and 416 Rigby. Please contact me if you need any help with regards to which guns and ammunition you should bring.

Two duffel bags are suggested, one for clothing / equipment and another for during the day (sun screen, cameras, jacket, ammo etc.). A limit of 20 kilograms is permitted on charter flights. 

Bring a warm jacket for the early mornings and evenings. It can get cold!

Foot comfort can make or break your safari. Bring suitable footwear.

Bring some other cloths that are comfortable to wear in camp. You do not need much clothing as the camp staff will have your cloths washed / ironed by the time you get back to camp each day. 

Getting to Arusha, Tanzania: KLM is the only reliable carrier servicing Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA). KLM fly every day of the week into KIA from Amsterdam, arriving late in the evening. Make sure you have a reasonable connection time in Amsterdam to allow baggage and guns to make their connection. Once you get to Arusha you will be met and taken care of. 

Medical: Tanzania is a malarial area, and precautions must be taken throughout the year. It is recommend that you check with your doctor or local health authority before departure. Yellow Fever vaccinations are required for entry into Tanzania. Valid health insurance is advised while on safari. Flying Doctor Coverage is advised for emergency evacuations.

Visas, Travel Documents: Citizens of most countries are required to obtain visas for entry into Tanzania. These countries include the USA, Canada and the European Union countries. Visas can be obtained ($50 fee) on the day of your arrival. It is recommend that you obtain your visa in advance to avoid unnecessary problems and delay.
