Headstone of My Great Grandfather,John L. Coleman, buried near Price, NC. Old John L. served as Cpl. in the 45th NC Infrantry, Confederate States Of America. Died about 1905. With the info from his headstone I was able to obtain his Confederate service records. He declined to accept 2 promotions to both Sgt and Lt. Was wounded twice, fought at the Battle of the Wilderness among others and surrendered with Gen. Lee at Appomattox. John L. was the son of John Sharp Coleman, Grandson of Tilman Sharp Coleman, and Great grandson of Robert Spillsby Coleman of Leakesville, ( now Eden ) NC. |
