Ill for 15 years - are flea
preparations and printing chemicals the cause?
<foxden@btinternet.com>I have been diagnosed with ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
12 years ago having been ill for about 3 years.
I was a very active person before becoming ill. At the time I was working with printing chemicals in a large college, running the reprographics department. This involved photocopiers and printing, which used toner and petroleum, based chemicals.
There was inadequate ventilation and this was only rectified after we refused to operate one of the machines. I was constantly ill with viruses, sinus infections and generally unwell with many symptoms.
At the same time I also used a flea preparation for my dogs called Nuvan Tops (UK), which I sprayed generously throughout the house as well as the dogs. I have read on this web site that other people have had problems after using similar products.
15 years later I am still unable to work and suffer much muscle and joint pain, headaches, sinus problems, memory and concentration problems to name some.
A few years back my situation was looked at by a solicitor (who I must say was not very interested) and eventually it was decided that there was not enough evidence (even though I did have a report saying it was likely that my problems were chemically induced).
I did not have the money to pursue this any further and so nothing more was done at the time. However I do feel that now these problems are becoming more recognized and would welcome any information or advice that anyone has to give me.
Is this damage likely to be permanent or is there a route available to detoxify given the right treatment and help?
Please contact me at foxden@btinternet.com
if you can offer me any help. Thank you.
