PERSONAL STORIES

The following links go to the personal stories in the lives of MCS Victims, their Carers and families.

Some will be only identified through an alpha-numeric number at their request to protect their identity.

It will provide an insight into the tragedy, pain and suffering and isolation these people face.

Cry for help.

This was sent to me from a Victim.  It shows the ignorance of some sections of society, including some in authority

Sherrees-Story

I asked for a contribution from Victims to include in a personal diary page.  This came from a young girl who is a Victim.

Graham.
This letter was sent among others for the diary notes and Graham indicated he no problems with having his name printed.  JW

ASWA-story-2003. This is a summary of the life of an MCS Victim of more than 33 years. She was a laboratory technician until too ill with MCS to work.

stellasub167.  this is a personal story of a young mother who sought to draw attention to this problem.

It shows the indifference and ignorance of may departments and some of the professions who choose to ignore MCS and often join with the chemical companies against the victims.  (victim becoming the villain mentality).

Photocopier Exposure Symptoms. personal story of a Chemical Trauma Sufferer.

Photocopier2. A similar Story as above.  They show the ignorance and intolerance, at times,  of management.

Under OH&S regulations they are required under duty of care to ensure safe working conditions.  Yet????????

Where is the monitoring of compliance?

A Carers Dilemma and Concerns   This shows the dilemma and concerns for Carers of Victims of MCS.

Perfumes, Ignorance and Egos.  This story is a story, not only of a Victim, but also the almost "road rage" type of effect, when people are asked to take care how they approach a Victim if the person approaching is using scents, cosmetics and other personal hygiene materials.

I Suffer With an Environmental Illness.  This is the story of a Victim who worked in an area where the use and handling of chemicals was quite concentrated, yet where the employers were not particularly Concerned with OH&S issues.  Safety procedures were so minimal that they could be considered non-existent.

Gordon and Jacki's Story.
Although not an Australian story, this link provides details of an American Victim's life as a victim of MCS; and the work try and gain recognition of MCS. It will also provide further information on MCS and what other action is presently being undertaken overseas to provide support and assistance for Victims of MCS. It also provides information on self help that may be useful.

As more stories of victims of MCS come to hand and with their permission to publish,  they will be uploaded to this site.

I believe only by coming out in the open and publishing them will the community become more aware and understanding of MCS.

I am not a Victim of MCS but saw my wife of 38 years go through extreme pain and suffering until, too late, they finally diagnosed her condition as  MS   (Multiple Sclerosis).

That is a separate story but it is indicative of the suffering people can go through until doctors and technicians are trained to recognise conditions.

MS went through and to some extent is still going through the same problems MCS is.

There are still many doctors out there who do not recognise MS as an illness.

Therefore I can understand MCS Victims and their plight and deeply feel for them.
