The building is the "Railway
Station" - where we live, not to bad, eh?
GREAT BARRIER ISLAND DAY ONE
We arrived in Tryphena at night, July 23rd, rode Medlands Rd. to
Kaitoke Beach where we camped the first night. The rocks we played on later that day
were called The Sugar Loaf overlooking Oruawharo Bay, Medlands Beach and Shakespeare Pt.
Camp on Kaitoke Beach - we woke up to a
deserted beach and a beautiful sunrise.
When it looks this good, I get a little
camera happy, ok? :)
The Sugar Loaf, and Travis after washing
our dishes. (Looking SE).
We found an awesome arch, and Alex and
Travis are in there for scale.
I think this picture comes closest to the
emotion felt while there.
That little rock became a bit bigger when
we tried to climb up it.
But the view was amazing. (This is looking
South to Shakespeare Pt.)
At the top with the camera on timer.
Getting back from the Sugar Loaf to the
island - needless to say, we forgot about the tide!
All packed up and headed out for the
afternoon!
