Matthew Donahue
is also a film-maker. After the initial success of his book on the
Hines Farm Blues Club, in January 2002, he worked with PBS affiliate
WBGU to make his book into a documentary. For this film Donahue interviewed
such blues dignitaries as B.B. King, Bobby "Blue" Bland,
the late John Lee Hooker and regional blues players Art and Roman
Griswold, Blind Bobby Smith, the late Big Jack Reynolds and many others.
The film aired nationally on PBS and received numerous awards and
accolades. Donahue was nominated for an Emmy by the National Television
Academy, and received the Telly award and the Crystal Award for Media
Excellence. Currently Matthew Donahue is working on another documentary
project on his involvement and creation of art cars titled "Taking
It To The Streets: An Art Car Experience." He is also developing
concepts related to two feature length films and music videos. |
