Family Histories

The histories on this website relate almost exclusively to early residents of a number of townships, towns and villages south of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in particular, of:

• the townships of Oxford-on-Rideau and South Gower and the town of Kemptville in Grenville county; and
• the townships of Goulbourn, Marlborough and North Gower and the villages of North Gower and Richmond in Carleton county.

The histories will be of three types:

• one which has been privately published;
• several which have been substantially researched but will never be published; and
• a number of summaries which have been prepared with minimal research, by reference to public records, but to no other source. The amount of information in these may be as little as (for example) an obituary or a newspaper item which would not otherwise be readily available to researchers.

In every case

• the documents will be Portable Document Format (PDF) files which will deny editing, selecting, copying and printing, and
• any use made of the documents will be at the researcher's risk.
