MRCS is a new exam system introduced by royal colleges of surgeons replacing FRCS. It has 3 parts namely MCQ, Clinical and Viva-voce. 

 

 

Eligibility:

  1. possess a qualification recognized by GMC
  2. hold or eligible for registration with GMC
  3. MCQ section: evidance of having entered basic surgical training
  4. Clinical setion: completed 20 months in approved post and passed MCQ section
  5. Viva voce section: completed 22 months of approved training and passed former 2 exams. In addition completed basic surgical training
