If you are an overseas doctor
graduating outside EU thinking of working or taking training in
Hospitals in UK you have to be registered with GMC. Unless you qualify
for ODTS you have to pass PLAB to do that. It is a two-part exam. 1st
part is a 2 hour written question and you need to answer 200 extended
matching questions (EMQ) in 3 hours. 2nd part is a 14-station OSCE
exam
While taking
preparation give emphasis on diagnosis, investigation and treatment.
Etiopathology etc. have less importance unless serve clues for
formers. Consider OHCM and OHCS as bibles. Joining doctor's
study club might be a good idea if you
are in London. It's free and you will meet other doctors who are
preparing. Only problem is they only meet once a week.
What about OSCE?
Get questions from Overseas
doctors or from Plabmaster
and practice with friends ideally among 3 persons. One being examinee,
another being patient and the 3rd one examiner. Also go through advice to
the patients supplied by NHS or
different hospitals. You will develop skills to counsel avoiding jargons
