June 2000 (Day 7)
After
breakfast, our group visited the Oasis of Peace community, where Sister Melanie
(USA) gave a beautiful testimony of how she came and decided
to stay in Medjugorje. At
English mass, the Irish priest challenges us to re-evaluate and maybe
re-prioritise our lives, and to decide for God. Had
lunch and did some last minute shopping. Pilgrims
gathered at the church for a talk by Father Svet - a contemplative Franciscan
priest who is also full of the Holy Spirit. He spoke about the role of women in
the family, the community and the society; the 1991-1994 war; and how there is
no boundary between the spiritual and the material in our lives; and how we are
all missionaries in
our own way. At
4.30pm, we bid farewell to Our Lady of Medjugorje and Her School of Love. Like
Ana (our local tour guide) had told us, Our Lady would not let us leave
Medjugorje without giving us gifts and graces to bring back home with us. And it
is so true...Shumin and I have been showered with many gifts and graces - some
which we had received there in Medjugorje, some right after we had left
Medjugorje, and some we're still uncovering now! Praise
be Jesus and Mary! PhotosClick on photo to see a larger image
