Name: Wraith K'Lan
Planet of Origin: Tatooine
Age: 25
Wraith K'Lan was born on Tatooine. He was orphaned at five years of age when his Mother, Drasha was murdered by an unidentified Sith-Lord while fleeing the Imperial Jedi-purge. It is not known whether she was herself a Jedi or not, but she is said to have put up quite a fight. So much so in fact that it attracted the attention of Wraith's future family, the K'Lans and several other local farmers who happened to be in town at the time for supplies. They surrounded the Sith-Lord and by sheer force of numbers, overpowered and killed him, but it was too late for Drasha. With her dying words she asked Daro K'Lan to protect and hide her son. He agreed, and the K'Lan's took Wraith to raise as their own son.
Wraith grew up on his adoptive parents' farm, all the while being told that there was something different about him, something that made him special, something that the empire wanted. He was told never to go to the cities lest he be discovered.
Apart from a heightened intuition, Wraith didn't believe there was really anything that different about him growing up. He had an unusual sense of balance and general body-consciousness, and it was nearly impossible to sneak up on him. He wrote this off as being "observant", and left it at that. These hardly seemed to him to be qualities that should lead to his pursuit and destruction by the empire.
As he grew older, it became obvious that his talents extended beyond the passive. He learned to "will" vehicles to move faster or slower while traveling. It was only a slight acceleration or deceleration at best, but sometimes it was enough that Daro would waste the rest of his day under the hood trying to figure out what was wrong with the speeder, much to Wraith's amusement.
When Wraith was 22, his adoptive mother, Cara died of natural causes, and he became even more involved with the business of running the family farm. When he was 25, his father passed away as well, and he was in a position to take over the farm himself, if not for one problem. To take ownership of the farm, he would have to travel to the city to transfer the title. Still unwilling to subject himself to that kind of scrutiny, Wraith allowed a cousin to take ownership in his place. He could have stayed on to work the farm, but felt that the time had come to move on.
A family friend who worked as a maintenance technician in the local spaceport arranged for a smuggler to make a special "pick up" at the Rebel CRS Odin, the X-Wing academy ship. In reality, it was a drop-off, but some smugglers, eager to make some quick cash will sell out their cargo to the imperials, so the true nature of the assignment was kept a secret even from the pilot. Wraith was brought in the "back door" with the daily group of maintenance workers reporting to their jobs, and while working on the smuggler ship, concealed himself inside where he remained until it had docked with the Odin.
Wraith was accepted into the X-Wing academy undergrad program, and thus began his career in the Rebel Squadrons. Graduating with honors, he was assigned to the Patriot Battle Fleet, Provider Wing, Crimson Squadron, Flight 8.
