Jeff waited impatiently in the waiting room while the doctors were working on Ginger. He tried to make small talk with Hank, Linda and his mom but it always ended up in silence. The doctor finally came in, which what felt like years to Jeff, and said, "Mr. Metcalf, you can see your wife." Jeff than got up and quickly walked to Ginger's room. The doctor whispering said, "she should wake up soon." and left the room.
Anne, Hank and Linda met the doctor outside the room and asked if GInger was going to be alright. The doctor answered, "Your daughter in law did very well and she should be physically ok...but she has lost a big part of her life. Just be aware of what you say around her."
Jeff took Ginger's hand and sat down. A few minutes later he felt her hand move. Jeff jumped up and looked at Ginger. She slowly opened her eyes and smiled at the sight of Jeff. Than her smile dwindled and said, "Jeff something is wrong. The baby." Jeff looked into her eyes and said, "Ginger, you're alright and that is all that matters right now." Ginger looking panicked said, "Jeff what happened..." Jeff went on to tell her exactly what had happened. Ginger's face turned pale and she sat up started crying, and put her head on Jeff's chest. Than Ginger said, "I want to go home..."
Finally back to the house Jeff helped Ginger in the door. > "I don't think its such a good idea for you to be walking." He told > her, concerned. > "I'm still capable of walking, thank you!". Instantly Ginger felt bad > for snapping at him. He had been so sweet to her. > " Just in case you can't walk, you know, I could always carry you > upstairs. I could just pick you up right now and carry you up to > bed..", Jeff then picked her up in his strong arms. > She had to smile in spite of herself. He looked so darn cute when he > was trying to impress her. > "Don't make me laugh, Jeff." She said somberly, looking him in the > eyes. "how can I feel sorry for myself if you're being so cute?", she > smiled meekly at him. > Jeff carried her upstairs to their bedroom, and laid her down on > their bed. |
