A few weeks later, Gina was taking her daughter, Emma, for a walk,
when she thought she would go to the pharmacy to pick up something
for Emma's cough.
"Gina, Hi! Can you come sit with us?" Ginger asked. She was sitting
at a table with Linda Metcalf.
"Okay, fine, first, let me go to ask the pharmiscist a question."
"We'll keep an eye on Emma for you," Linda volunteered. By now she
had grown attached to the daughter of her former fiancee Mike.
Besides, you couldn't blame a child for mistakes her father had made,
she thought as she took Emma.
Ginger watched her. "She does look like him, doesn't she?", she said
softly.
"She sure does....", Linda stopped as she realized Ginger was reading
her thoughts. Sometimes it was really great to have a best friend
like Ginger.
" Aren't you going to hold her?", asked Linda.
"I don't know, Linda, it has been a while since I have held a baby."
Linda looked at her pointedly. "Well you had better get used to it!",
she teased her friend.
Just then Gina joined them.
"Thank you for holding Emma for me. I must get something for Emma's
cough."
" Should she be outside," wondered Linda.
"No, it not serious. Besides, I want to get it before Charlie comes
over tonight." Gina smiled at the thought of her boyfriend. She was a
good mother, and if she thought it wasn't good to take Emma out, she
wouldn't.

"Ginger, the phone is free. Go call the doctor!", urged Linda.
"Everyone is okay? Has Jeff hurt his knee again?",Gina asked.
" Oh it's Ginger. She's just..under the weather.". Linda looked at
Ginger and smiled as her friend started to make her phone call.
A few minutes later, Ginger returned, looking solemn.
" Oh no Ginger! It's bad news?" Linda watched her friend's face turn
into a grin.
I am a good actress, thought Ginger, as her grin broke into a smile.
"I am going to have a baby!" Ginger was taken aback at how calm she
was when she said those words.
"Oh my stars, I'm having a baby!", she repeated, still in shock.
After a round of hugs and giggles between the women, Gina broke the
mood.
"Does Jeff know?"
Ginger exchanged looks with Linda, as she sighed and sank into her
chair.
