After some small talk, Jeff and Ginger made their way to their
table. Jeff looked at his wife in amazement.
"I'm proud of you, Ginger. You  know that?", he whispered to her.
She was very flattered. "Why ?".
" Because I seem to recall the times when you couldn't be in the same
room with him or his ex-wife, and now you are very nice to him and
his girlfriend." He meant that sincerely; he thought of how far his
wife had come since they had first fallen in love.
But Ginger didn't get his point.
"Well it seems to me you sure didn't mind being in the same room as
his wife!" she said, somewhat accusingly.
"For heaven's sake, Ginger, do we have to talk about this now? I came
here tonight to have a good time and all you want to do is fight. I
said something nice, and you want to turn it around!". Jeff was
frustrated with her now. But then again, there were many moments in
their relationship where feelings  changed awfully fast like that.
Too many, if you asked him.
"Well Jeff, how do you expect me to act? Like I never got on with my
life? Well Charlie never gave me any other choice, did he? And now I
am married to you and all you want to do is bring up the
past! "Ginger said, nervously looking around to make sure Charlie
hadn't heard her. The last thing she wanted to do at that moment was
to give Charlie any indication that she still carried a torch for
him..

"Well you are the one making a scene, not me. I wanted..". Jeff
didn't even have a chance to finish his statement.
"If you think for one moment that I came here knowing you were going
to start a fight over my ex-fiancee then I'm leaving!" she huffed,
thankful that this was a slow night at the restaurant.
"I didn't start it! Besides, you're the one who was sore at me for
mentioning Caroline!"
"Why does everything have to be about her. If I hear her name once
more tonight I will scream. No, I will walk out that door.". She
meant it. Sometimes Jeff was so insensitive about her past.
"Well, I'll go get the car then!" Jeff proclaimed.
"Fine by me!" Ginger responded.
"Fine!" he responded as he started torwards the door.
Meanwhile, Gina, and Charlie, unaware of the events, walked torwards
the table where Ginger was still seated.
Gina couldn't help but notice the anger on Ginger's face.
"Are you okay, fine? What is the trouble?" She wondered?
Before Ginger could say anything, Jeff, who started to come back for
his keys, muttered,
"Why don't you ask your boyfriend?"
Gina and Ginger exchanged uneasy glances, before Ginger left with
Jeff.
Gina nervously glanced at Charlie, who asked, "What did I do?".
