| "Jeff, why did you decide to bathe in cologne all of a sudden?" Linda snickered. "I'm just going out." That's all he needed was Linda to find out about Sarah and him. "With who?" Anne asked. She had just left the kitchen to see what that horrible smell was. Oh swell the calvalry's shown up. Jeff thought. "Nobody, myself. I can't believe I can't walk out the door without people asking who, what, where, when, or why. Are you two working for Dick Tracy or something?" Jeff huffed. "Fine Jeff we'll leave you alone." But his mom's words fell on deaf ears because he was already out the door. Sarah was patiently waiting for him in front of the theater. What a dish. Hank was luckier then all get out! "Hi Jeff, I hope you like romantic movies." She cooed as she took his hand. What a boring movie. Jeff thought to himself. He could feel her hand moving up and down his leg. He felt chills run down his spine. Sarah decided this was her chance. "Jeff" she whispered into his ear. "W-hat?" he stammered. When he turned to face her and their eyes met Sarah tilted her head and leaned in for a kiss. Jeff's eyes shot open. He didn't know what to do but return the kiss. Sarah ended the kiss and opened her eyes to see Jeff's reaction. But once she stopped Jeff realized this wasn't right. "What?" She asked innocently. "I can't do this." He leaped from his chair and made his way out of the theater. Sarah looked around at the gaping mouths of people around her. Not only did they notice the kiss but they were snickering as Jeff ran out. "How could you run out on me like that?" "I'm sorry, I just, your Hank's girl." He managed to get out at least that much. "So! Hank's overseas, he would never know besides, didn't you like the kiss? "Yes, no, I don't know." "Well let me help you make up your mind." She kissed him long and hard leaving him speechless. "Don't worry, this will be our secret." Sarah whispered. Chapter 2 "I can't Adam and Eve it Linda! First I'm planning a wedding with Charlie and now, and now, I find out from a dear John that he married some British round heel!" "Ginger" "Well it's the truth!" "Ginger quit crying! At least Charlie's coming home alive!" Linda screamed through tears of her own. Ginger looked at Linda who was sobbing hysterically now. "Oh Linda I'm sorry. Your right, you have it much worse. Not only did Mike marry another woman but he got killed. Please forgive me." She had known Linda all her life and have rarely seen her express her emotions through crying. "Gin, that's alright I just don't want to talk about it." "Look I know something that will make us both feel better." "What?" "Don't ask just meet me at Branstaetters in half an hour." "Hank's coming home!" Jeff was happier then he'd ever been. His brother was safe and finally coming home. Of course his mother was frantic setting up decorations for his coming home party. "Sarah, I bet your just pleased as punch that Hank is coming home today. Now you two can get married just like you planned too before he got drafted. "Oh yes Mrs.Metcalf, I'm tickled pink." She looked at Jeff from the corner of her eye. |
