My Dad also gave me some individual information:

Silas was born in Ashland County, Ohio on September 5, 1841, the youngest son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Reichart)Mykrantz. A life-long resident of Carmel Township, Eaton County, Michigan, he took over the farming operations during the Civil War while his older brothers were off fighting. On May 10, 1866 in Eaton County, Michigan, Silas married Susan Elizabeth White. Susan was born November 24, 1840 in Tiffin, Ohio, the daughter of Stephen and Mary White. The White family had moved to Charlotte, Michigan in 1855. Together they had two children, a boy Fred Stephen, born May 9, 1867, and a girl Maud Lena, born June 24, 1872, Both children were born in Carmel Township, Michigan. Maud Lena evidently never married and died May 25, 1917 in Wahjamega, Michigan. Fred Stephen married Electa Dennison in Charlotte, Michigan on August 25, 1886. He died December 31, 1942 in Jackson, Michigan and is buried in Mapel Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, Michigan. Silas Augustus died in Charlotte on July 13, 1911, and Susan died January 31, 1915 at Hanover, Michigan. They are buried together in Charlotte's Mapel Hill Cemetery. They were life-long farmers.

Fred was born in Carmel Township, Eaton County, Michigan on May 9, 1867. He was the son of Silas Augustus and Susan Elizabeth Mygrants and had a younger sister, Maud Lena. He grew up on the family farm in Carmel Township and on August 25, 1886, married Electa Dennison there. Electa's father had been born in Scotland, her mother born in England and it is unsure if they had married before or after emigrating to the U.S. Electa was born in Michigan on February 8, 1868. Fred and Electa had six children, four girls and two boys. Bernice was born in November 1886 and married a man named Leroy Ross in Delta, Michigan April 12, 1906. Bessie was born in June 1888 and little else is know about her. Mystie was born November, 1891 and little else is known about her also. Charley was born in September 1898 and died around 1960. Max Alexander was born May 28, 1900 in Carmel Township. He married Catherine Elizabeth Avis in 1920 and they had three children. He died November 10, 1972 in Jackson, Michigan. Doris was the youngest and there is no record (that we have) of when she was born or any other particulars. Electa preceded Fred in death in 1925 and in 1939 he married Belle. Fred died on New Years Eve, December 31, 1942, in Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. He is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, Michigan. Cause of death was internal hemorrhage from advanced carcinoma. He had cancer of the stomach, which had also affected the liver and surrounding structures. Fred sold the family farm after Electa's death and then made a living as a salesman. Not much is known about his second wife, Belle. I'm not sure the family received her well. This was my (David John Mygrants) dad's grandfather, but he has never spoken much of him, so I'm not sure what kind of relationship they had.

Max left Jackson and moved quite a bit in an effort to get work, as this was still the depression era. Charley, his brother, was living in the Hanover area of Jackson County, and Max soon moved there to be close to his brother. It was at that time he met Dessie Nelson, a widow, who would become his second wife. Max and Charley were avid sportsmen, although Charley was more of the hunter and Max a sport fisherman. This passion was probably one of the reasons that he founded and ran the M & M Fishing Tackle Company. It was a relatively small operation started in the early 1950's and took up most of his basement as well as a house-sized shop on South Street in Jackson. Although he concentrated on tying flies they made all kinds of tackle and accessories. As a youth (David John Mygrants) on vacations it would amuse me to go into a fishing supply store in Canada or Northern Michigan and end up buying a piece of tackle made by my grandpa that I could have for the asking at home. The business folded in the mid-60's as Max's interests moved on to other things. He became a salesman of mobile homes, a market that was booming at the time, and finally retired about 1969. Max died November 10, 1972 in Foote Hospital, Jackson, Michigan. I (David John Mygrants)showed up soon after he had died and remember not wanting to go into the room he was in until my dad arrived. I wasn't scared-it just didn't feel right for some reason. (Funny how you remember certain things). He died of cerebral vascular occident caused by arteriosclerosis. He also had diabetes mellitus. He is buried in the Horton Cemetray, Jackson, Michigan. Dessie died in 1974 and is buried beside him. Max knew he had you (Cheri Anne) as a great-granddaughter and held you in his arms. There are pictures that can prove this-one day we'll find them. Max Mygrants died in November 1972. Born May 28, 1900, Mygrants was 72 years old and lived in Michigan Center, MI.

Donald As the war began coming to an end the German threat of air attack became almost non-existent. The anti-aircraft battery was disbanded and Donald became a military policeman and remained one until be left the army. The war ended but he was not allowed to go home because of the need for police in conquered Germany. He did get a furlough to go marry that girl he had met in southern England and did so on December 29, 1945. Anne Rosina Milton was the youngest of five children of Edward Thomas John Milton and his wife Anne Rosina Waller. She was born April 29, 1925 in the district of Islington, London, England where she lived until entering the army as a result of the war. The house was destroyed in an air raid and the family moved to Southend, Essex. She mustered out of the army at the close of hostilities and lived with her family until Donald was sent back to the U.S. for discharge in 1946. Donald returned to the U.S. on the same "Rangatiki" that he had gone over on, usually cursing the Germans for not sinking the thing during the course of the war. Anne came to the U.S. on the newly refurbished "Queen Mary" and enjoyed the opulence and luxury of the huge passenger ship. The couple set up house in Jackson, Michigan and on June 2, 1948 had their first son Leonard Milton Mygrants. In the summer of 1952 they purchased a house at 320 Center Street in Michigan Center, Michigan where they live today (6-9-2002). Their second son was born December 13, 1952, David John Mygrants. Donald worked for the railroad for a time and was a machinist for a period of time. He finally joined the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 360 (a building and construction trades organization) where he worked until retiring.
