Let Truth Prevail
George Fessler
***************************************
"You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from
obeying
the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who
calls you.
'A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.' I am confident
in
the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing
you into
confusion will pay the penalty, whoever he may be. Brothers, if
I am still
preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that
case the
offense of the cross has been abolished" (Galatians 5:7-11, NIV).

Paul once again lays it on the line with the Galatian believers.
He pulls no
punches in saying they have allowed themselves to be led astray
-- "kept
from obeying the truth!" He underscores the reality that it only
takes a
small "untruth" to affect an entire community of faith. He indirectly
warns
that those who have created such confusion will be judged, while
at the same
time expressing confidence that the believers will come back to
the truth.
Ultimately the reason why Christianity works is that it is true!
And the
source of the truth is in the God whose Son was crucified on a cross
for our
salvation. It is offensive to some and incomprehensible to others,
but
nonetheless it is the truth on which our faith is based.
Prayer response: Father, I thank you for the truth that sets us free;
for
the message of your Son who died on a cross for our salvation. Help
me this
day in the race that I'm running for you, that I would be found
faithful and
true to the gospel. Keep me attentive to the "small stuff" of which
you are
a part in the lives of those around me, so I can bear witness to
my Savior.
In His name I pray. Amen.
