GUESTS ABOARD We welcome you as a guest on our boat! We want to assure that you enjoy your trip, others enjoy the trip and that the skipper not be unduly distracted! So we are offering the following for you to consider and keep in mind. Enjoy your cruise! FOOTWEAR: Please do not wear high heels aboard. Please do not wear leather-soled shoes. Yachting shoes are best and rubber-soled shoes without heels are next best. CLOTHING. Wear things that are loose and comfortable - preferably old clothes. If it's warm, be sure to bring a bathing suit and towel to wrap it in after you change. If you plan to be out after sundown, bring a sweater and jacket. SUNBURN: If you are susceptible to sunburn, bring a hat and long-sleeved shirt or blouse, along with your favorite sunscreen. If you have a special kind of lotion, bring that. FOOD. If you plan to bring food, check it out with me in advance so there is neither excessive duplication nor unreasonable demands upon the galley. LIQUOR. You may bring liquor if you wish, but don't start drinking until the sun is over the yardarm- until we are moored or docked. SEASICKNESS. This is not a disgrace! Some of the best sailors who ever lived (including Lord Nelson) were subject to seasickness. We try to keep some kind of dramamine or other remedy on board. But you can obtain wristlets or other preventatives on your own. THE BOAT. Become familiar with the boat. The Skipper should show you important items, please pay attention. Remember: Starboard is right; Port is left! TOILET. We have a porta-potty on board. This has definite limitations. JOB. Each guest will have a job to do or a post to man. This is to keep you out of the way!! LIFE JACKETS. PLEASE pay attention to where life jackets are. Also the fire extinguishers. BINOCULARS. You will be shown where these are kept. DO NOT TAKE THEM without the skipper's permission and return them promptly when finished. ALWAYS put the straps around your neck as you will have to retrieve them if they go overboard! DO NOT DIVE overboard unless the boat is anchored. And then, be sure to know the depth of the water! WIND DIRECTION. Please know windward and leeward! Throwing anything - from garbage to a cigarette butt- over the side to windward can be dangerous! ALWAYS keep "One hand for yourself and one hand for the boat'! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER hold a cup while someone else pours any hot liquid into it! You will surely be burned!
