The Band's Story

Written by Kiwi. Information gathered all over the web

Aaah, Mest. Your general pop-punk-ska-reggae band from a part of Chicago, Illinois called Blue Island. And this is their story, like it or not.
It all started with the two cousins, Tony and Matt Lovato. Starting out with usually only one guitar and "banging on buckets", the two knew that they would eventually have to be in a band. They added Tony's brother, Steve, to be another guitarist, since all three had mostly similar taste in music. Alas, then they found Nick Gigler, whom had gotten kicked out of his Catholic high school in his freshman year, to be the drummer, and the band was on their way. Unfortunantly, Steve left (or was kicked out, no one's completely sure) due to musical diversity, and the band played as a 3-person act for a while, but knew they weren't at their best with only one guitarist. Then, they recruited Jeremiah Rangel, an old friend of the band.
So with being a fully functional band, what would you name it, and why? When asked this at a party one night, they pondered.....and pondered, until they found it. Mest! Mest! Because they always drank Milwakee's "The Best" Beer, they took the M off of Milwakee and put it on the B in Best, to create MEST! How bright.
So Mest then recorded an individual record, called "Mo Moneys Mo 40z", with an edgy, sometimes ska sound to it. They then sent the demo to John Feldmann of Goldfinger, whom they knew barely due to talking after shows. John was impressed and soon got the boys signed up to Maverick, where they recorded their first record "Wasting Time", where the singles "What's the Dillio?" and "Hotel Room" breached off of in 2000. Getting a fanbase with playing shows around the country, they then "dropped the bomb" with a new CD, "Destination Unknown" in 2002. This CD brough them the most popularity, TV play and radio play with the single "Cadillac", and the anthem known to most kids as "Fuct Up Kid". Once again, the toured and toured and toured, Tony and Jere writing more songs.
Finally, in June 2003, Mest released their self-titled CD, where all the ideas for the songs came to Tony and Jere like piss from a bedwetter. With the single "Jaded (These Years" ft. Benji Madden", and the pre-released "Rooftops", Mest earned it bigtime with this record. With this CD showing more maturity for the band, and basically showing how they've grown up so much, Mest seem to have released an album that shows real and important events in the boys' lives.
