Make your new metal roof energy efficient with Metal Coverings upgrade options.
By controlling the flow and direction of radiant heat, you can keep cooler in the
summer, stay warmer in the winter, and most importantly, lower your energy bills.
Strapping
Most of our products can be installed directly to your roof deck. By installing your
new metal roof on strapping, an air barrier is created between your existing roof deck
your new metal roof. This air space will trap radiant heat and evaporate any infiltrated
moisture. We all know that hot air rises, and will act the same in this air cavity,
travelling to the vented peaks of your roof. That is where the air escapes back into
the environment, not into your home. This air movement will cool your attic and
residence in the summer, ultimately lowering your energy bills.
This air movement also prevents the metal panels from rapidly changing temperatures.
This reduces the stress to the coating increasing your metal roofs service life.
In northern applications, such as South-Western Ontario, this upgrade helps prevent
ice damming. As mentioned before the hot air travels out of the roof, preventing
the freeze/thaw situations.
Solar Guard

Installing a reflective solar guard under your metal roof has two main purposes.
- Reflecting heat.
In the summer the solar guard will reflect the heat out of your house, and likewise in the winter will reflect lost heat back into your home. Installing the solar reflective solar guard will help to lower your energy bills.
- Water barrier.
The reflective solar guard will act as a secondary underlayment to channel infiltrated water to the exterior of the building.
