made of meteorite in Yuan Dynasty. It was during 1341-1370
A.D. this meteorite first came to being as a coin. The inscription
read Zhi Zheng Tung Bao. This coin was not made for the purpose
of circulation like the ones made of brass in same size. Rather,
according to Chinese custom, it was intended to give extra
power of protection for anyone who owned it. The coin was
supposed to be white. The oxidization of iron content resulted
in change of color. |
