"Scan To" Destination

If you're scanning software supports it, the "Scan To" function of allows you to send the scanned images directly to a preconfigured file, printer, fax, mail and other applications. This is quite convenient, and to do so, you must first setup your scan destination first.

"Scan To" a File

Select File Directory, Filename and File Format for your scan image.

Filename
When you use Batch Scan to scan multiple images, the driver will add two digits (starting from 00) at the end of the filename for each image as default filename. In other words, the filename will go like: filename+00, 01,02 etc.

NOTE: Depending on your Scanning Software program, filenames longer than 8 bytes may be truncated to 6 bytes. (I.e., A file's first name can be no longer than 8 Alpha-Numeric characters.)

File Format
The supported file formats include: BMP, TIF, PCX, PSD, TGA and JPG.

"Scan To" a Printer

Printer dialogue box will display the default printer driver for your software. You may change the printer by clicking the Setup button for configuration.

Here's a picture of the "COPIER" utility that comes with the software package which comes with the UMAX scanner. You open/start the utility from your Windows Start --> Programs menu.  Then place your document/photo into your scanner, select size reduction percentage (scaling), click on the number of copies you want on the keyboard, select type of document, make other adjustments as desired, and click on the big orange button at lower-right to start scanning.

As soon as the scans, the output goes directly to your printer. Neat!! Works good!

"Scan To" your E-mail Client

Both Microsoft Exchange and Lotus cc:Mail are supported in Mail function. The former, however, will be disabled in Windows3.1 environments.

You may also setup the image format for the file to be mailed. The supported formats include: BMP, TIF, PCX, PSD, TGA, JPG.

"Scan To" a Fax machine at remote location. (Via Telephone line.)

Click the Fax button to display the Fax dialogue box.

To change the default fax driver, click the Setup button to select your fax driver.

Most fax drivers share the same printer port that the printer driver uses for output. Thus, any changes to the fax driver will change the default printer driver as well; and vice versa.

"Scan To" an Application (Like MS-Word or MS-Works wordprocessor when in OCR Mode)

Setup the Application's name, directory path, filename and file format to which your scanning software will send the scanned images to.
