-Even though the GameCube version was released much later than the PS2 version, it boasted some improvements. It had a new Training mode and 4-player co-op. This may sound great, but overall, the game felt sloppily put together. Gameplay: B- 4-player co-op on this game deserves some credit. It's a lot of fun. Levels though seem a bit confusing, and with weapon firing. Enemy AI is pretty bad actually, with enemies just running right in the open into your crosshair. You can give you team commands if your not playing 4-player, which is a bit tricky, though useful. Training mode is almost a requirement, because the game has some difficult button combinations. You can also drive in the game. The controls in my opinion are horrible for it, with you just pressing forward to go. Even then, the driving sequences are so far apart, it just feels left out. Moving on, aiming thankfully isn't that hard. Most enemies only need 1 shot to go down, and an auto-aim helps you to finish a bunch off quickly. Tanks in the game are extremely annoying, because most of the time you don't have enough rockets to shoot it down and because the tank always knows where you are. And on a side note, it has the most annoying load and save feature. Graphics: C+ There are some nice textures in the game, but few and far between. The characters themselves don't look that good. The framerate also jumps up and down a lot. Sound: B- There are some voice acting for the commands you give your team. They sound pretty bad though and the developers didn't even try to lip sync them with the characters. The music is too quiet and doesn't fit either. Challenge: A Some levels are near impossible to pass, such as the 1st level. It takes a lot of time to develop a strategy. Replay: C+ With multiplayer co-op, the title can last awhile, but there's no multiplayer deathmatch or capture the flag and stuff. This is more of a rent title. Overall: 76% "Could have been an awesome game...." |
