Player Profile - Doug West
He left the city before the last home game. The rumor was that he did not say good-bye to the teammates and headed to the hometown to retire. I really liked the way he worked on his defense. It's too bad that all the negative comments in the media, IL and his private problems destroyed his career this way. I hope he finds his peace outside of the court.
My past comments:
I read the newspaper article saying he was not asked to return to the Grizz for the upcoming season. However, it also said that he was a good friend of the new HC Sidney Low and possibly that may bring him back. I don't really care if he is a good friend of Low or not, but I think he has the defensive skills which is worth learning for the younger players in the team.. I know there is Mike D who is improving in many ways in the Grizz, but who is going to be a solid back up? Felipe is also improving, but very young and needs to learn, too. Who are they supposed to learn how to defense, and how to pass, etc. Especially if he IS a good friend of Low, Doug should return and teach the younger players.
In additional notes, I think he is the best dresser outside of the court among the Grizzlies players.
