Engagement

We were engaged on Saturday October 14, 2000. Below is the email I sent out to announce how it all happened.
Dear Friends and Family,
I am so happy to tell you that Michael and I are engaged! I think yesterday was the happiest day of my life, although I know there will be many more to come. We were in my backyard, and Michael was taking pictures of my for his photograph class. It was a beautiful sunny day around 5:00. He seemed a little nervous, but I didn't think anything of it. Then he had me sit in a chair under some of the fruit trees and kep taking pictures and telling me how happy he was. He asked if I noticed how he was sitting on one knee, but I was still clueless. Then he told me he had something for me, and I knew. Of course, I said YES and proceeded to boo-hoo and laugh all at the same time. Michael has said that he wished it were more romantic, but it couldn't have been more perfect...I was surrounded by the roses and flowers that I enjoy so much and the man who I will love forever. The ring is a beautiful round-cut diamond solitaire with a gold band. It is exactly what I would have picked out. It is even more special because it was his grandmother's ring. It is an honor to wear it because I know how much she meant to Michael and his family.
