Post-doctoral research at the Oxford Centre for Molecular Sciences (OCMS) 1993-- 1996, with Dr Sheena E. Radford, funded by long-term fellowships from EMBO (first year) and FEBS (another two years). The project, which was a collaboration with the group of F.U. Hartl (New York) focussed on the structure and dynamics of the chaperonins GroEL and GroES and their bound substrates. Methods included hydrogen exchange labelling as monitored by NMR and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, spectroscopy (CD, fluorescence, etc.) stopped flow methods (CD, fluorescence) and standard biochemical techniques.
