Here is the transcript from the interview Michael did for tribeworld. Unfortunately this interview is copyrighted so i cant publish it on here, but you can get it from www.tribeworld.com.

Following is the transcript.

Interviewer: How did you get the part of jack?

Michael: I had an agent, most of the actors on the tribe have an agent, and the agent rang me, this is back in august 1998, and asked me if I wanted to audition for Dal, and I went for the audition for Dal, did the part, went home and then about a week later they rang me and asked me whether I wanted to play Jack, so yeah I said yes, and it basically all came from there.

Interviewer: How long have you been acting?

Michael: The first acting I ever did was back in 1994 when I was 10 and my 2 sisters wanted to be in this play called “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, and I um wasn’t to chuffed to have to go to it but I had too coz I couldn’t stay at home so I was gonna stay inside the car but there was nothing good to listen to on the radio, so I decided to go into the auditions and mum persuaded me to read for Charlie and for some strange reason I got Charlie, and I was actually only 10, but yeah that was my first acting experience.

Interviewer: Do you think that you are at all similar to jack?

Michael: I think my humours kinda like, um, jack, its little bit sarcastic, um, I don’t know as much about computers and…

Interviewer: So are you a computer geek like jack?

Michael: No, no I actually don’t know that much about computers, I have a playstation at home which is what I tend to play, so I don’t usually actually know how to do that much on the computers. I have to write a lot of erm essays and stuff so I word process them and stuff but no I don’t know too much about computers.

Interviewer: When you joined the tribe and accepted the part of jack, did you know you would have to have you hair stripped down and died orange?

Michael: I don’t actually recall but I think they did say something about dying my hair but I was so caught up about the whole thing I didn’t really care what they did to my hair. They cud of wanted to shave my head and I wouldn’t of cared.

Interviewer: So how do you find it when you walk down the street?

Michael: Um, I think in New Zealand, New Zealanders in general don’t tend to speak out as much as I suppose other nationalities would, but I do get a few teenagers trying to be funny and I mean honestly I think I can say I’m not just being um wise about it, I think I can say if someone came upto me and said a good comment I would actually acknowledge it and I wouldn’t take offense to it but if they say stupid things like “Oh your hairs on fire” and, or just or you’re a beacon or something its just…

Interviewer: Do you just walk away?

Michael: Ah yeah basically coz its just a stupid moronic comments its just not even worth saying.

Interviewer: How do you spend your spare time?

Michael: Is this while I'm working?

Interviewer: Yep

Michael: If working we don’t get too much to do or too much time off to do stuff on the weekdays but tend to just hang out with my friends, Um I play soccer in the winter I play a bit of golf sometimes not regularly though I play a little bit. And I just hang out with my friends, go out with them and stuff.

Interviewer: And who are you friends with on the set?

Michael: Er well basically if you would be working with all these people your going to be friends with all of them, I would say I’m basically friends with everyone on the set, I get on with, Dwayne and Caleb and Ryan well especially because were all around the same age, and we erm get on with the others aswell.

Interviewer: Do you want to continue acting for the rest of your life?

Michael: Erm, I am not gonna base my career on it.

Interviewer: Can you tell us about any embarrassing moments you have had on the set of the tribe?

Michael: Right back at the start it was pretty hard trying to get used to the fact you were on Camera quite a lot of the time even when you weren’t acting. I had a lot of bogeys in my nose so, stick the old finger up there and it was recorded on the camera and I actually didn’t know until someone else told me and the camera went to the executive producers office.

Interviewer: So everyone saw it?

Michael: Yeah, yeah

Interviewer: And you didnt know?

Michael: No, no.

Interviewer: How do you think you would cope as Michael if the virus really hit?

Michael: I think it would be a shock, I’m not used to, I can really support myself. I’m used to mum tidying my bedroom and stuff so I think I would find it hard to the fact that I had to get used to taking care of myself.

Interviewer: If you had to choose to be Michael or Jack in real life who would you choose?

Michael: Me, coz I mean jacks too conservative, and I’m much more social than he is.

Interviewer: Now if you got a big acting role who would you like to star against?

Michael: Yeah I wouldn’t mind acting, Norman and Wise, I wouldn’t mind acting next too Salma Hayek or Liv Tyler or Michelle Pfeiffer, Liz Hurley and a few others like that. Um in terms of male actors I really respect Sean Connery and Mel Gibson.

Interviewer: And final questions, If you could be a historical figure, who would you be?

Michael: I’ve always liked the idea of like exploration so like, I wouldn’t mind being someone like James Cook or Christopher Columbus or something.

Interviewer: Well thank you for joining us on tribeworld today michael, is there anything you'd like to add for the fans?

Michael: Um I would just like to thank you for sending all these letters in and giving me the opportunity to come here and record a interview for you. Um I thought the historical question was very good who ever wrote that out so thanks for that.
