FREEWAY HAPPY AT HOME 8/98
We have FINALLY recieved word from Ft. Collins that freeway is safely back on the ranch and reunited with her sister. We have no reports of sucessful mouse exploits yet but hey she's still young!
FREEWAY UPDATE (July 12th)
On Thursday July 9th Michele, Drew and Freeway pulled into Philly. As luck (or the great cosmic plan) would have it Randy happened to be here on business and Freeway is now on her way westward to be reunited with her sister (Mouse Trap) in Colorado. We already miss her but when it came down to it 160 acres seemed a better home for her than the cab of our truck. We are confident she will serve Randy well and catch lots of "mices"!
THE STORY OF "FREEWAY"
Hi everybody. I'm only about 7 weeks old, but I've had a lot of experience for my age. I grew up on a farm in colorado...me,mom, the other kitties had a pretty good life. All of a sudden my sister and I were taken away from mom to live with this red headed guy named Randy. My sister thought that was ok, being a red head herself...but it was all just too much for me so when Randy, his friend Christina, and their company Michele and Drew were sleeping I jumped out the 2nd story window to make my escape. Little did I know there would be 2 big dogs waiting for me so I ran up under a big machine. Well, now that I'm older I know this was Michele's pick up truck. I got in that spare tire and just hung on for dear life...I was hungry and thirsty, but was too scared to make a peep about it. We made our way along the miles of bumpy dirt road, and then hit the freeway. There I was going 80mph, out on the open road, wind thru my fur...nobody back home would belive this. I s'pose I could have jumped ship when M&D stopped for that picnic in Wyoming, or when they went to mount Rushmore...I guess I just liked the feeling being out on the open road, curious to see what's all out there that I've been missing. First of all I'd like to say that The black hills are amazingly beautiful, and the badlands at sunset are gorgeous... yes all in all South Dakota is highly underrated. but I've digressed...So, it was about 9:00 and I was famished. M&D set up camp for the night in the badlands...after 450 miles I was pretty tired, hungry and scared(I had just seen a big Bison) and started crying...I just couldn't stop. I know M&D were shocked to find me in that spare tire. I didn't really Know what to think of them at first...but I've got to admit it, they are really growing on me now. I cried all night long, until M&D took me in their tent and cuddled with me, fed me and kept me warm in their down sleeping bag...let me tell you I didn't want to get out in the morning. They finally packed up camp after michele went horsebackriding with a friendly lady she met at camp from Minnesota. Since then It's been first class all the way...I ride in the cab, and get all the food and attention a kitten could ask for. I still like it in the spare tire and would like to try a convertible someday (miata?). I'm not sure how far my travels will take me; next tues we leave for Philly...there is talk about returning me to Randy's ranch (which would be ok, cuz I guess red heads are ok, and my sis is there)...but deep in my heart I yearn to see Alaska. I guess time will tell. Until next time... purrs and kitty licks,
