Eva LuElla was the 1st of 2 children. Born to Sylvester and Dora Mae McGowan in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
Grandma and her family moved to Western Oklahoma when she was 22 years old. She met my grandfather, Floyd Lee Davis, and they were married on December 16, 1933. Grand-daddy passed April 4, 1963 and then grandma married Merle St.John Decemeber 25, 1965. Merle passed from this earth in 1967.
The Davis's had two daughters, Virginia Lee & Viola Mae. Both daughters have also preceded her in her journey home.
Some of mam-mommy's favorite things were polk salad, cornbread & milk. We've had many meals on just those things. Oh and fried tators and onions too.
She has left me a great legacy in the things that she has taught me through the years and I am now very proud to carry on as the Matriarch of the family. Some of the best things that she taught all of us girls were, and I quote;
"Get up, dust off and go on. Do things yourself, never ask for help from anyone. If you have to wait on a MAN to do anything for you, you will be waiting all of your life, so get up and do it yourself!"
Let me tell you, those have definately been words to live by that's for sure LOL! I have many great memories of my grandmother and she's been my rock for so many years that it's hard to believe that she's not "physically" here with us anymore. But I know that she is very happy with were she is at now. She's with my grand-daddy and both her daughters and they are doing the happy dance for sure. I can only pray that the good Lord will allow me to be here on this earth as long as she was.
The pain and hurt that I have in my heart right now is unbelievable. The hole that's there right now is the size of Texas. I know that time will heal this and that I must move on, but it is so very hard right now.
Eva is survived by 2 grand-daughters, 5 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, 1 brother & 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by both husbands, both daughters, her parents, 7 brothers and 4 sisters.
The Next Pages are pages in the making here. I have grown and healed since I started this page for my Mam-ma and I want to thank everyone that has left messages and sent gifts to add to her pages. My "Online Family" has gotten a little closer to me and with their help I am getting on with my life and healing.
There will be changes to this front page often, so I hope that you will come back again. Thank you for stopping by and please sign my guest book to let me know that you were here.
