God's Holy Day
Seven Studies on the Sabbath Truth
By Lester G. Osborn
And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. -Genesis 2:3
Scriptures for Lesson Five
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting
the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the
LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the
eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of the LORD are true
and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is Thy servant warned, and in
keeping of them there is great reward. (Psalms 19:7-11 KJ21)
The works of His hands are verity and judgment; all His commandments are sure. They stand
fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. (Psalms 111:7-8 KJ21)
For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle
shall in any wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled. (Matthew 5:18 KJ21)
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than one tittle of the law to fail.
(Luke 16:17 KJ21)
Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. (Romans 7:12 KJ21)
For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the
law: that "the man who doeth those things shall live by them." (Romans 10:5
KJ21)
And He said unto him, "Why callest thou Me good? There is none good but One, that is,
God. But if thou wilt enter into Life, keep the commandments." (Matthew 19:17 KJ21)
And He said unto him, "Thou hast answered right;
this do, and thou shalt live." (Luke 10:28 KJ21)
Whosoever
committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law. (1
John 3:4)
Therefore by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in His sight, for by the
law is the knowledge of sin. (Romans 3:20 KJ21)
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
(Romans 3:28 KJ21)
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid! Yea, we establish the law. (Romans
3:31 KJ21)
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid! Nay, I would not have known sin, but
through the law; for I would not have known lust, except that the law had said, "Thou
shalt not covet." (Romans 7:7 KJ21)
But we know that the law is good if a man use it
lawfully, (1 Timothy 1:8 KJ21)
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the
law. (1 John 3:4 KJ21)
For whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend on
one point, he is guilty of all. For He that said, "Do not commit adultery," said
also, "Do not kill." Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art
become a transgressor of the law. (James 2:10-11 KJ21)
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the
law. (1 John 3:4 KJ21)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord. (Romans 6:23 KJ21)
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the
curse; for it is written: "Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things which
are written in the book of the law to do them." (Galatians 3:10 KJ21)
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us (for it is
written, "Cursed is every one who hangeth on a tree"), (Galatians 3:13 KJ21)
And it shall come to pass in the last days that the
mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall
be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go
and say, "Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the
God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths." For
out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:2-3
KJ21)
"For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before
me," saith the LORD, "so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come
to pass that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all
flesh come to worship before Me," saith the LORD. (Isaiah 66:22-23 KJ21)
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, being
shut apart from the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Therefore the law was our
schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith
has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by
faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:23-26 KJ21)
For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.
(Matthew 11:13 KJ21)
"The Law and the Prophets were until John. Since that time the Kingdom of God is
preached, and every man presseth into it. (Luke 16:16 KJ21)
For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (John 1:17 KJ21)
"Think not that I am come to destroy the Law or
the Prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till
heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall in any wise pass from the law
till all be fulfilled. (Matthew 5:17-18 KJ21)
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah
the prophet, saying, (Matthew 4:14 KJ21)
Love worketh no ill to his neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans
13:10 KJ21)
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor
as thyself." (Galatians 5:14 KJ21)
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2 KJ21)
But before faith came, we were kept under the law,
being shut apart from the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Therefore the law was
our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after
faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. (Galatians 3:23-25 KJ21)
Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth in nothing from a servant,
though he be lord of all. But he is under tutors and governors until the time appointed by
the father. (Galatians 4:1-2 KJ21)
"This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, saith the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds
will I write them; (Hebrews 10:16 KJ21)
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to
everyone that believeth. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law: that
"the man who doeth those things shall live by them." (Romans 10:4-5 KJ21)
For I say unto you that this that is written must yet
be accomplished in Me: `And He was reckoned among the transgresors.' For the things
concerning Me have an end." (Luke 22:37 KJ21)
blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was
against us, which was contrary to us. He took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross;
and having despoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing
over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in regard to meat or drink, or in respect
to a holy day or the new moon or the sabbath days, which are a shadow of things to come,
but the body is of Christ. (Colossians 2:14-17 KJ21)
And He said unto them, "The Sabbath was made for
man, and not man for the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27 KJ21)
For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath
broken down the middle wall of partition between us, having abolished in His flesh the
enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might make in
Himself one new man out of the two, so making peace, and that He might reconcile both unto
God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby. (Ephesians 2:14-16 KJ21)
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that
grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we, who are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
(Romans 6:1-2 KJ21)
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid!
(Romans 6:14-15 KJ21)
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law,
for sin is the transgression of the law. (1 John 3:4 KJ21)
