While there are some minor rapids (as shown above-left) and an "Upper Cato Falls" marked upstream of here on maps (best I can tell, it's just the dam shown above), the best drop (and almost only place of real potential interest to whitewater paddlers on this run) is right in a very nice county park. The river drops (perhaps 4' total) over a short ledge into a large grotto area. The left is more abrupt, a possible short "boof," while right of center is a sliding slot into what could become a meaty hole at higher flows. The far right drops onto shallow bedrock, so is not generally recommended. At the right levels, this spot could provide local boaters with hours of entertainment, were it not for the generally terrible water quality.

Downstream of this (to the town of Manitowoc and Lake Michigan) there are scattered low grade (class I) boulder garden rapids. At high water these may provide some interest to the novice boater. They are not likely to hold much appeal to the experienced paddler, especially since, if this river is high enough to be of interest, there are other runs far more interesting which are likely to be 'up'. (Devil's River and West Twin being closest, and tamest, while still being interesting.)
