This stretch of river makes a pleasant, predominantly flat-water paddle. At the
falls, the river is squeezed through dam-like wings of rock from either
shore. The resulting slot has a number of large rocks present at its base,
which will not be obvious in moderate to high water. Some amount of play
may be possible, but generally is not advised due to the abuse to boat
and body which the rocks are likely to impart.
A run further upstream (Rib Dells, from Hwy.64 to Hwy.F) has some minor merit at high water. Descriptions can be found in Paddling Northern Wisconsin (Mike Svob) or on American Whitewater river pages for Wisconsin.
