RIVER: Black Creek
LOCATION: Athens (25 miles WNW of Wausau)

PUT-IN: city park NW edge of town
TAKE-OUT: SE edge of town

           SHUTTLE: City streets through town.

                   DIST:  1.5 miles
TIME:  <1.0 hour

CLASS: I-II
CHARACTER: A pleasant little stream in a relatively deep valley, with even grade.

GAUGE: Visual. The Prairie River (about 15 miles east) may provide correlation.
I have run this just once at a fair (low-moderate) level. The Prairie gauge was at 820cfs and dropping, from a max of 1930 cfs a few days earlier.
SEASON: Spring flow, or summer thunderstorms.

A fairly interesting, continuous easy fun run for anyone in the area when it is high enough. A few good surf waves form, some even have pretty good eddy service! This might be an interesting addition to a trip down the nearby Pine Dells, Prairie Dells, Trappe, etc.
