The Drunken Goodnight
Hey sweet nectar.
You can take a hold of me,
Flow and let the world up-end itself right with the sea.
Empty promises.
Spent a month-long wish tonight,
Tomorrow takes for granted how much that felt so right.
Walk past again.
More beautiful every time
How many different ways can I ask you to be mine?
I want to walk you home tonight.
If you’re leaving then so’s my reason to stay.
Don’t want you to feel alone.
So let’s just sit and wait together for the day.
Well-lit strangers.
Hold my hand,
I could explain for hours before you could understand.
Night living Gods.
Faking what you felt so strong,
Only at this hour can you tell me you were wrong.
Making up excuses,
But trust me that it’s alright,
Look me in the eyes and we can live forever for tonight.
I want to walk you home tonight.
If you’re leaving then so’s my reason to stay.
Don’t want you to feel alone.
So let’s just sit and wait together for the day.
Don’t close your eyes.
Day will take the night,
I won’t let this end that easy, not without a fight.
But you can’t stay.
Life can’t be lived on pause,
That’s the best day of your life’s one and only flaw.
Don’t say goodbye,
Sweet nectar can do that for you,
But if you say those words I’ll never know this was true.
I want to walk you home tonight.
If you’re leaving then so’s my reason to stay.
Don’t want you to feel alone.
So let’s just sit and wait together for the day.
