Hand Me Down From Heaven
There’s a lightness to the air from the starry night,
Stars gleam through broken cloud to show my world alight.
I saw a feeling in the flesh if words I can’t devise,
It’s the answer to unasked questions, puts life back in my eyes.
I feel a stranger in a most familiar place
How could I have lived here and to never known this face?
I feel like it's creation, and she's crafted gently with the breezes,
Now I’m scared to death to move and it be broke in a thousand pieces.
I don’t want to move lest I scare my new found love away,
But I don’t dare pass this up, she won’t be back another day.
From this gift of heaven, rejection’s far too cruel,
Dare I step in risk of stumbling and make myself a fool?
I see this creature bathed in light, she’s backlit by the moon,
The sun is in her smile in her eyes the stars of June.
Robed in silk that flows forever, just like clear blue stream,
I pray to God that this is real or to never leave this dream.
I’m afraid to breath if she’s a vision of the wind,
She makes me believe and I want to let her in.
I open up my heart, and the angel sees right through me,
Well this is a start, because now she’s walking to me.
She puts her in my arms, my heart stops and my blood freezes,
Reborn like I’ve never known harm, so I breath and thank my Jesus.
We step in rhythm to our dreams, with a love you find in folklore,
This hand me down from heaven’s given me something to live for.
Time will press on us, but our love never ages,
You could try forever, but it can’t be writ in pages.
It extends out to the stars unending as the sea,
It’s well beyond the heavens, whence my angel came to me.
