What's Peanuts to You is Like Gold to Me

Sometimes men like football, sometimes men like cars,
Others might all talk of golf and argue over pars.
Maybe I’m not like most men, but that’s for you to see,
What’s peanuts to you is like gold to me.

They’re a tasty treat I love for snacks, they always fill me right,
Good enough for afternoon, light enough at night.
Salty to perfection, and a shell that’s fun to crack,
If you traded them and gave me money, I’d want the peanuts back.

What’s peanuts to you is like gold to me,
I don’t think they’ll ever get old for me.
And when the dust settles and all’s been said and done,
I can eat them by the dozen, or even by the ton.

Spending days in the nice sun, coming back from hard day’s work,
I can’t think of other jobs where you can eat your perks.
Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned, but they’re better than TV,
They barely cost a nickel and they’re always there for me.

What’s peanuts to you is like gold to me,
I don’t think they’ll ever get old for me.
With a nice lemonade, they really are divine,
Better than what grows on trees and you can keep your vines.

Apples rot in a few days, candy rots your teeth in less,
As far as all that nature makes, peanuts are the best.
You can give me all the cash on land or all the fish at sea,
But what’s peanuts to you is like gold to me.
