Scars of Comfort

Forcing back the night for an hour of peace,
Living on the lie that some promises might keep.
Figure that for your good you’ll get your pay,
Feel bad that you misunderstood that’ll come a distant day.
Crawling all around me are the promises you made,
Drag along on broken legs that didn’t make the grade.
It’s beautiful on paper this mantra that I lead,
But I’m just sticking out my arms inviting all to have a bleed.

And the days will come
When you make self-assured.
Find little things in life
That always get you cured.
Don’t take back your title,
Or your scars won’t keep.
You did have to sow those seeds,
You would do well to reap.

Standing up for once because you know that you care,
Be it losing her or just seeing if you’d dare.
Throw back all the light just to see her as she is,
Words betray what she could be and you’ve been waiting for this.
You’re my partner of the night, take a walk with me,
No questions of if or might, we’ll have to wait and see.
I could learn my lesson and change the rules of the game,
But for who you could be to me I think I’ll stay the same.

And the days will come
When you make self-assured.
Find little things in life
That always get you cured.
Don’t take back your title,
Or your scars won’t keep.
You did have to sow those seeds,
You would do well to reap.

I could play along if you’ve get no hesitations,
I am getting oh so high off of your sensations.
Take me by the hand if that’s the best that you can do,
I think I understand why I have just found you.
Opening these doors you could take me anywhere,
God I want much more, and you know I’d make you care.
We could throw away what we thought we knew,
But we’ll leave today for what we’d like to hold true.

And the days will come
When you make self-assured.
Find little things in life
That always get you cured.
Don’t take back your title,
Or your scars won’t keep.
You did have to sow those seeds,
You would do well to reap.
