How to join Talk with any choir member or ring Membership Secretary, Don Kimber (0117 909 9261) for a chat. You will be invited to come along for a couple of evenings to decide whether you enjoy coming. There is no audition. We will also recommend websites which will help you to learn your voice part e.g. www.cyberbass.com or www.note-perfect.com Where we meet Stoke When we meet Thursday evenings 7.45 - 9.15pm. Doors open at 7.30pm, for a prompt start. Sessions are based around school terms, with a long break in the summer. What sort of music do we sing? The choir aims to sing music of a variety of genres, but mainly from the classical choral tradition. In the last few years we have performed Hummel Mass in Bb Faure's Requiem Vivaldi's Gloria Handel's Coronation Anthems Recent summer concerts have included music such as folk songs and gospel, Borodin's Prince Igor, Songs from the shows, Henry VIII and Billy Joel. Do members need to read music? You do not need to be able to read music, but as you progress in the choir, you should be willing and prepared to learn. Your music reading will improve with time, but there are some great websites you can try e.g. www.sightsing.com and you will be encouraged to do this. Fees The fee for each term is currently £30 (June 2009) Concerts The choir aims to present two or three concerts a year. Concerts are non-profit making, with the net proceeds being given to a charity chosen by our members. Social Events We have regular social events, which have included American Suppers, quiz evenings and Summer Strawberry Cream Teas.
