Polar Bear Communication

Sounds
Polar bears are mostly very quiet. They will sometimes growl or hiss at other bears when they don't want to be bothered. Cubs will make more noise than grown-up bears (like human babies will make more noise than parents). Cubs will start to bark and bawl if they are hungry and not being fed.

Other ways The way a polar bear moves its body, or touches another bear can show how it is feeling. When bears want to play with each other, one bear will walk up to another, with his head down, mouth closed and eyes looking away. Many dogs do the same thing when they want to play too.
