I purchased this tractor, and a Farmall H, from a nearby farmer. Because
the tractor rear tires are so far apart, it would not fit on either of our
trailers. So we decided to tow it home with one of my tractors. I drove the
Super M over to his place, hooked up a chain between the two, and set off
for the 4 mile trip over back roads. I drove the lead vehicle while he steered
the F-30. It was a long ride for me, but an even longer ride for him - the
seat on the F-30 was not designed for cruising down the road, and he said
that he felt every single pebble along the route. Fortunately, the roads
are good, and there wasn't any traffic to speak of.
While the tractor is in generally good shape, the intake manifold is cracked
and patched, and the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. Even after it is running,
I have no real use for the tractor, as there is no lift, and top speed is
3 3/4 mph.
After I wrote this, I was approached by a gentleman who wanted to restore an F-30 and use it for antique tractor pulling, so he came down one cold winter day, loaded it up on his trailer and took it away.
