The Farmall
560 diesel is my first diesel tractor and was purchased as
a replacement for the Farmall 706 that was just too big for my needs.
The 560 is a better size for me, and I find the transmission more to my
liking. At this time, the Torque Amplifier is not working, but pretty
much everything else is fine. I replaced the seat assembly, as the
bushings had become so worn that the seat moved around while driving
the tractor, making it very awkward. Very unusual for a 40 year old
machine, all the the decorative panels were still there, but the grille
was so bent up that I ended up replacing it with one purchased from a
salvage yard. Other minor items had aged and had to be replaced: engine
kill cable, voltage regulator, sealed beam lamps, ammeter, and the
"ignition" switch. One of the most important reasons for buying the
tractor was to power my PTO driven backup generator at the house for
power outages. Since I bought the tractor, there have been no outages.
