This tractor was purchased with the Farmall F-30, and was by far in the worst condition of any I have ever owned. The engine is "stuck", the transmission is in two gears at once, the paint is gone, the "paper" belt pulley shot, one rear tire is flat, and one front tire is completely ruined. But I have all the pieces and parts. Replacement hood, lights, shift lever, and other parts have been obtained from a similar tractor in Texas that is being scrapped. Unfortunately, I had no more room in my barn, so the tractor sat outside under a plastic tarp awaiting warm weather to work on it. This will be my tractor project for 2000, 2001, and 2002, and I hope to be able to post images of the progress. Here is how it sat as of December 1999, and though it looks bad, most of the work is cleaning rust, painting, and putting things back together. There are coffee cans full of parts and fasteners in the barn, along with all the other parts in the barn - cleanup of these items will be done during the winter, including electrolytic de-rusting (for more information on this very effective method of rust removal, click here .
As of the summer of 2001, the tractor had been moved into my barn, and
all new tires have been installed. I had to destroy the pistons to get them
out of the liners, and I have removed two of the four liners. Once I get
the other two liners out, I will start building the tractor back up. This
is not a priority project - I have other more pressing needs - so I have
no idea when it will be done.
Because I am now working 5 1/2 days a week, I have come to realize that
I will probably never finish rebuilding this tractor, so I have sold it to
a friend who will probably do a much better job with it than I ever could.
There is a good solid tractor there, but for me it would have been just a
lawn ornament, as it has no hydraulics or rear lift.
