Uniforms Of The World is a privately owned museum situated at Gingin in Western Australia.  As the name implies, we specialise in uniforms - all sorts of uniforms.  We have uniforms of the armed services, of nurses, scouts, fire personnel and of lots of others.  Our uniforms come from Australia, the United Kingdom, America, Russia, Germany, France . . . . . and many other countries.  They span the years from the present day to WWII, WWI, the Boar War and back into the 1800's.

We have a collection of medals, badges, buttons and regalia too numerous to mention.  And our collection is open for public viewing.  Just browse a while or let Tony (that's me in the kilt on the left) or Maureen give you a personalised guided tour of our treasures.

Gingin is situated on the Brand Highway, 84 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia.  It has a very interesting historical background dating back to the early settlement of the State.  During 1830 (just one year after the Perth was founded), Gingin was explored by Robert Dale and Edward Barret-Lennard while they were searching for lost cattle.  In 1831, Mr. Barret-Lennard's application for land in the area was approved.

The inhabitants of the Gingin area are mainly concerned with primary production: Sheep, cattle and wheat - a mixed farming community.  In recent years a considerable area of land has been planted with vines and horticultural pursuits are proving very successful.

As one of the oldest towns in the State, there are remnants of its pioneering days both on farming properties and in the town which include:

  • St. Luke's Anglican Church (built about 1860)
  • Philbey's Cottage (built 1906)
  • Granville (built 1859/60) and scenic pool
  • E. O. Cockram house (built 1871)
  • Uniting Church (built 1869)
  • Northwest of Gingin on the Cowalla Road is the Cowalla Homestead (built 1852)

and of course
