I have 4 cats. Panda is my oldest cat. She is a tortie (a calico with no white). I rescued her from the Humane Society. They told me that she would never allow anyone to hold her. That explains why she's always screaming at me to pick her up and hold her. Panda likes to talk, loudly. When I am talking on the telephone to one friend, Panda gets up in my face and screams in the mouthpiece of the phone. I think I've suffered hearing loss because of her.
My next two cats are natural sisters. Frankie and Johnnie were given to me by the neighbor's daughter. Before these two were flown here, I was told they were Siamese.
Have you ever seen a totally black Siamese with a round face? That's Johnnie. I call her "Butt," because that it what she is always offerring to people.
Johnnie is a very silly cat. Her favorite sleeping position is on her back, front paws curled, and hind legs spread. No, it is NOT very ladylike.
Another silly thing about Johnnie is her love of potato chips. If I am eating chips, she demands to have one. I break a chip and place it on a piece of paper for her to eat. Sometimes, that is NOT what she wants. She wants to get her OWN chip out of the bag.
Another thing strange about Johnnie is her voice. My cousin's teenage daughter calls her "Tyson" because of her voice. Like the boxer, Mike Tyson, Johnnie is very blocky. She looks big and tough. But, when she talks, out comes this tiny little voice. Sometimes, nothing comes out!
Johnnie does make up for lack of voice volume with her purr. When Johnnie purrs, you can hear it across the room. You would think that her purr would be very audible when I'm on the phone and she is on my chest. Of course not.
Frankie is Johnnie's sister. She is black with a white triangle on her chest. Frankie collects stuffed animals. She has a big black kitty on my bed that she is constantly kneading. One of her favorite games is "whop." You grab at her paws or tail and she whops you with a paw. If she catches your finger, she will chew on it. Although she chews on my fingers all the time, she has never hurt me.
Since I have spent a lot of time at home this past school year, Frankie has become very attached to me. If I leave, even if I am only going to be gone for 15 minutes, Frankie will get her "sock" toy and start crying for me. There have been times she has done this when I gone to the bathroom!
My newest cat is Snoodle, Too. As you can see from her picture, above, she is a calico. I adopted her Friday, June 25, 1999 from the Champaign County Humane Society. This was the day after I first saw her at PetSmart in Champaign. Snoodle is a big, fat neutered female. She has been on diet catfood for over a year and has gained about 3 pounds.
Snoodle plays with these soft little pom-pom balls. I've had some for over five years and, until Snoodle discovered them a year ago, no one had ever played with them. If you ask her where her ball is, she usually will go get it. She likes to bat it around. If it goes someplace she doesn't want it, she will pick it up in her mouth and carry it back into the short hall. Then, she starts the game all over.
These are my children. I hope you have enjoyed reading about them. Would you like to read about a cat who solves mysteries?
