This is dismissed by the 1907 article concerning James Davis age as relating to his civil war pension. Indiana marriage record indicate that a Henry Davis married Elizabeth Smith in 1824. No other Davis - Smith marriage is recorded in that time frame. The newspaper clipping indicates that there were 10 children born to Henry and Elizabeth. The 1840 census lists 6 were living. 2 were born after 1840, and none after 1845. This suggests that there were two chlidern that were born and had died between 1830 and 1840, most probably born between 1833 and 1836. Elizabeth married Henry Davis on 24 Mar 1824 in Clark County, Indiana.1 2 3 4 (Henry Davis was born on 2 Oct 1804 in Virginia 9 and died before 1870 in Indiana.)
