Josephine Americus Davis, 86, of Humbolt IL. died at 6PM Monday at the Gamble Nursing home, here where she had been a patient for the past 5 years.
Funeral servces will be Thursday at 3pm in Humbolt IL. cemetery. The body is at the Shrader funeral home. Mrs. Davis was born Dec. 20 1868 in Scott County Indiana. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Burgess. She married John R. Davis on Oct 23 1889 who preceded her death. Mrs. Davis is survied by three sons, Traver of Mattoon IL., Everett of Taylorville IL. and Ralph of Alma IL., two daughters Mrs. Pearl Rich of Arcola IL. and Mrs. Carmen Johnson of South Bend, Indiana. A brother Tuerly Burgess of Mattoon IL. a sister Mrs. Hettie Estes of Urbana and one grandaughter whom she reared Mrs. Vera Hendrickson of Decater.
Josephine also raised Neve Kessel.
