All the pavement you see (except for the helipad) in this picture is part of Hwy 130, which is the only road leading up to Mount Hamilton (check the link for a better view of Mt. Hamilton). It's twisty, and has a few hairpin turns - made for a Mini! (I thought it was a bit bumpy for my taste, though) The total altitude gain from San Jose is about 4000 feet.
